The Liverpool poet Brian Patten has died at the age of 79. Born in Liverpool in 1946, Patten came to prominence with 1967's The Mersey Sound, which is thought to be one of the best-selling poetry anthologies of all time. Patten grew up in a working-class neighbourhood and left school at 15, finding work as a junior reporter on the Bootle Times, he was honoured with the Freedom of the City of Liverpool in 2001 |

Actress Dame Patricia Routledge, known for playing Hyacinth Bucket in classic TV sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, has died at the age of 96. She also starred in Alan Bennett's TV monologues and played BBC One's crime-busting Hetty Wainthropp. Katherine Patricia Routledge was born in Birkenhead on 17 February 1929. |

Only Fools And Horses star Patrick Murray has died at the age of 68. Murray played Mickey Pearce, a friend to Sir David Jason's Del Boy and Nicholas Lyndhurst's Rodney Trotter, across 20 episodes between 1983 and 2003 on the BBC comedy series. He also had roles in 1979 films Quadrophenia and Scum, 1990s TV sitcom The Upper Hand, as well as The Bill, ITV Playhouse and Bergerac. |
