That bus won't be permanently on the 17a.
(For one thing, during the day they switch over between 17 and 17a at St Helens).
I am confident that they will still interwork with other services, but I don't know which.
(The 2 looks like a possibility, but the timings are a bit tight!)

The 17 and 17A interwork with one another. It used to be that a 17 into St Helens would depart as a 17A and vice versa.

They did used to interwork with both the 2 and short 14A (but now that is the 62A it will just be the 2)
