British singer Lauren Bennett, one of the voices on LMFAO's 2011 hit song Party Rock Anthem, has died aged 37. Party Rock Anthem has been named the fifth most successful song of all time by Billboard after spending six weeks as the number one song on its Hot 100 in 2011.

Former Labour minister Sir George Howarth has died at 77. Sir George was first elected as MP for Knowsley North in 1986, and served as a member of Parliament for almost four decades. He left the Commons at the last general election in 2024, when he was MP for Knowsley. During his years in Parliament, Sir George served on the Panel of Chairs, chairing Westminster Hall debates and overseeing committees. He was a minister during Sir Tony Blair's first years in No 10, in the Home Office between May 1997 and 1999, and then in the Northern Ireland office between July 1990 and June 2001. Sir George was knighted in the 2019 Birthday Honours for parliamentary and political service.

Bonnie Tyler, the singer, known for hits including Total Eclipse of the Heart, Holding Out for a Hero and It's a Heartache, has died at the age of 75. In May, Bonnie Tyler was rushed to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, for emergency intestinal surgery and placed in an induced coma to aid her recovery. In an update last month, a spokesperson said she was out of a coma but remained very unwell in intensive care. At the time, they said her condition was improving and doctors were "confident" she would recover - although progress was "slow". They also cancelled or postponed dates for the singer's summer tour, but hoped some later in the year could go ahead.

Former Conservative minister turned Reform UK spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe has died aged 78. Widdecombe's political career spanned decades, serving as MP for Maidstone in Kent for 23 years, before going on to join Reform UK. She worked as a Home Office and employment minister in Sir John Major's government between 1994 to 1997. After leaving Parliament she embarked on a showbiz career, appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2010 and Celebrity Big Brother in 2018.

TV presenter Dermot Murnaghan has died, a year after he revealed he had been diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. The former BBC, ITV and Sky News journalist was 68. A fixture on British TV news across five decades, he presented flagship programmes including the ITV Evening News and the BBC News at Six and Ten. Murnaghan was a main presenter of BBC Breakfast from September 2002 to December 2007 and also hosted quiz show Eggheads.

David Willey, who served as a BBC foreign correspondent for more than half a century, has died aged 93. He reported from Algeria, Vietnam and China, but is best known for his time in Rome as the BBC's Vatican correspondent, where he covered the papacies of five popes. Widely regarded as one of the most experienced journalistic voices on the Vatican, Willey wrote a book on Pope Francis and was awarded an OBE for services to broadcast journalism.
